Ivan Lee Ellis, II, 61, passed away at home on Thursday, February 8, 2024, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born in Marion on November 9, 1962, to the late Ivan and Eva Ellis.
Ivan graduated from Marion High School in 1981. After graduation, he went to work for B&B Fire Protection, designing fire protection systems until 1985. He then started an apprenticeship with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 166 while working for Liniger Company until they closed. He was hired as a foreman for Current Mechanical Contractors of Fort Wayne. In 2019, he went to work for Chrysler in Kokomo in the skilled trades department, UAW Local 685.
Ivan loved following the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed playing golf, softball, volleyball, bowling, and basketball.
Ivan was a lifelong member of Westside Assembly of God (New Life Community Church). His support and faithfulness went beyond financial contributions. He was involved in the bus ministry, Royal Rangers, children’s ministry, church plays, and choir, and he volunteered to provide maintenance as needed.
In 2005, Ivan found and married the love of his life, Maria (Estrada) Ellis. Together, they served and worked side by side as God intended. They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, Avric, Matthew, and Kali.
Ivan was dependable and could always be counted on by others when needed. His passion and love for family was displayed each month when they would gather for a meal, which was followed by the Phase 10 card game and some hilarious moments.
He is survived by his wife, Maria (Estrada) Ellis of Marion; brother, Wayne (Marjorie) Ellis of Marion; sister, Catherine Taylor of Marion; brother, Samuel (Marla) Ellis of The Villages, FL; adopted sons, Joshua and Patrick Ellis; daughter-in-law, Megan Ellis; and step-daughter, Clarisa Vega.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Eva Ellis, as well as his sister, Mary Jane Ellis.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave, Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Ivan’s life will begin at 1:00 pm. Pastor Jerry Gallaway will be officiating with burial taking place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
