Jack L. Wagner, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at home in North Manchester, Indiana, on November 12, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on February 10, 1941, in Gary, Indiana, to Rosco and Nicy “Sally” (Young) Wagner, Jack lived a life full of love for his family and those around him.
Jack devoted twenty-three years of his career to the Laketon Refinery from 1974 to 1997, after which he continued his professional journey with Transwheel in Huntington. He retired in 2001, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and commitment to his work.
Jack’s greatest joy came from his family. On January 15, 1967 Jack married the love of his life, Darlene Keaffaber. Married for fifty-seven years, Jack’s love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He took immense pride in being a father to his daughters, and as a grandfather and great-grandfather, he created joyful memories that will forever resonate in their hearts. He often took his grandchildren on tractor rides around their property, fostering a connection with nature and family traditions that they will cherish.
A man of many passions, Jack had a profound love for John Deere tractors, fishing, and trips to Las Vegas. He found joy in shopping at farm stores and spending time outdoors, where he mowed his land and raised cows and pigs, showing his nurturing side by spoiling them. Moreover, he was known for his incredible cooking talents; Jack was an unbelievable cook and baker who enjoyed sharing his creations with others. It was not uncommon for him to bake bread and leave it in the mailbox for the mail person, exemplifying his generous spirit.
Jack was well-respected by all who knew him. Though he could be outspoken and straightforward at times, those traits only served to enhance his deep-seated love for family and friends. His relationships were characterized by a heartfelt devotion that touched many lives, and he will be remembered fondly for his kindness, passion, and unwavering support.
The loving memory of Jack Wagner will be forever cherished by his wife, Darlene Wagner, North Manchester; daughters, Angela (Juan) Ramirez and Debora (Noble) Bolen, both of North Manchester; sisters, Betty Williams, Lake Station and Patty (Lamoine) Thomas, North Manchester; grandchildren, Nicole Wagner, Leah Ortiz, Jacob Anderson, Dylan Hoffmeyer, and Juan Ramirez; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
