Jacquelynn Yvonne Parson-Tunstill, 73, Indianapolis, passed away at 9:58 pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Health Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Middletown, Ohio, on Tuesday, April 24, 1951, to Frank and Theadore (Bright) Pope. On June 30, 2018, she married George Tunstill, who survives.
Jacquelynn graduated from Marion High School and attended Wilber Force University. She worked as a Bus Driver with IndyGo. She was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She loved going out to eat, going to the casino, and watching her soap operas every day. She enjoyed doing karaoke, playing phase 10, watching movies with the grandkids and being with her family. She had a special fondness for Longs Doughnuts and was known for touching her family’s wrist when saying hello and goodbye. Jacquelynn also loved getting pedicures and manicures with red nail polish.
Survivors include her husband, George Tunstill of Indianapolis; sons, Derrick (Tracy) Parson of Fort Wayne, Donnell Parson of Indianapolis; godchildren, Constance Lewis, Mark (Navatni) Bankhead, DeAngelo Hewitt, Chanel Maynard, Stephanie Bowie, Shani Smith; grandchildren, Alexis Parson, Jacquelynn Parson, Donnell Parson, Jr., India Elliott.; sister, Melanie Harris; and 4 great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Parson and Theadore Pope; as well as brothers, Robert K. Pope and Gerald Parson, Sr.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1204 W. 14th St., Marion, IN 46953.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jacquelynn’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. C.L. Adams officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
