Jay Dee Rogers, 73, of rural Peru, Indiana, died at 10:10 pm, Monday, November 4, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on May 16, 1951, in Wabash, Indiana, to Kenneth W. and Leona R. (Thompson) Rogers.
Jay was a 1969 graduate of Huntington High School and attended Marion College, in Marion, Indiana. He married Catherine Miller in Peru, on June 15, 1974. Jay retired from the Carpenters Union Local 615. He was a member of the Paw Paw Community Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, history, playing the guitar, wood carving and was very artistic. He also enjoyed walking his dog Buster and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Rogers of Peru; two daughters, Christie (Gregory) Woodruff of Burlington, Ontario, and Shannon (Scott) Gress of Peru; seven grandchildren, Finley Woodruff, Jovie Woodruff, Lorik Woodruff, Everly Woodruff, Bentley Gress, Elliana Gress, and Aria Gress; sister, Patty (Doug) King of Roann, Indiana, brother, Stephen Rogers of Denver, Indiana; and his lifelong best friend Jim Stinson of LaFontaine, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth Rogers Jr. and David Rogers; and his sister, Barbara J. Hiatt.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Burial will be in Paw Paw Cemetery, Miami County, Indiana. Friends may call 3-7 pm Friday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Wabash County Cancer Society.
