Jay M. Beall, 77, of Swayzee, passed away at 8:50 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Tuesday, October 28, 1947, to J. Mac and Bettie (Hirsh) Beall. On August 8, 1969, he married Marsha Lynne Browning.
Jay graduated from McCallum High School. He was a life member of the NRA and a member of the USMC Tripoli Detachment. He served in the USMC with two tours in Vietnam and was a highly decorated Marine. He received the following awards and medals during his military service: Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Naval Unit Citation, and Para Badge.
Jay worked at Dana Corp. for nine years prior to his employment at the VA Hospital. He also served with Southwest Medic 5 for 15 years in Swayzee and was involved in Amateur Radio for 15 years helping missionary families here to make contact with their families on the mission field. He enjoyed hunting whenever possible.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Marsha Lynne Beall; sons, Michael W. Beall and Nathan Scott (Lindsay J.) Beall; grandsons, Alex Beall, Bryce (Shelby) Beall, and Logan Beall; granddaughter, Kaily Jo Beall; and great-grandsons, Ford Beall and Gaines Beall.
He was preceded in death by his father, J. Mac Beall; mother, Bettie N. Beall; and sister, Gaye Beall.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
