Jayne Ann Rice

 

Jayne Ann Rice, 78, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 7:40 pm, Sunday, September 29, 2024, at The Waters of Wabash East.  She was born on August 19, 1946, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Gilbert and Adaline (Maple) Keefer, and shared her birthday with her Grandfather, Jack Maple, and her youngest grandson, Adam Dennison. Jayne grew up in Somerset, Indiana, and was a 1964 graduate of Southwood High School. Her family moved to Wabash when the government bought all the houses in Somerset to build the Mississinewa Reservoir. Jayne’s work history began working in the Valu Dress Shop, followed by a job in the payroll department at General Tire, and then in the office of P&B Distributors. She worked at the Honeywell Center, retiring after 33 years as the Director of Educational Outreach and Volunteers. Jayne married Arlo Dennison on October 22, 1966, and they shared two children, Sheri and Tim Dennison. She then married Edward Rice in 1986. Jayne served on the Visitors Bureau Board and the Chamber of Commerce Public Relations Board. She was a 30 year member of the Time Out for Crafts and was a member of the Wabash Red Chappeaux. Jayne was a member of the Woodlawn United Methodist Church and then joined the First United Methodist Church in Wabash. She volunteered at 85 Hope. She is survived by her son, Tim (Laura) Dennison of Louisa, Kentucky; two grandsons, Matt (Mariah Jenkins) Dennison and Adam (Taylor) Dennison, both of Louisa, Kentucky; sister, Nancy Williams of Kokomo, Indiana, and her brother, Phil (Susan) Keefer of Wabash.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sheri Jayne Dennsion who died in 2019; and her brother-in-law, Jesse Williams. There will be a memorial service for Jayne at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Friends may call from 12-2 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mississinewa Cemetery, Somerset. Preferred memorials are Honeywell Center Education Fund or 85 Hope.
