Jerry Roy Breitweiser

Our beloved, Jerry Roy Breitweiser from Tavares, FL, passed away suddenly on May 5, 2024 while visiting with his daughter in Kokomo, IN. Born January 14, 1940 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Wilton Edward Breitweiser and Beatrice Breitweiser and was the younger brother of Richard Edward Breitweiser (Carol Breitweiser).

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn Breitweiser. He was the devoted father of Lonnie Roy Breitweiser (Jill Breitweiser), Cheryl Ann Browne (Mike Browne), & Chad Wilton Breitweiser (Corinna Williams).

He retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo, IN where he worked in maintenance for 30 years. After retiring, he moved to Tavares, FL and started a lawn business. He was passionate about having the nicest looking lawn in the neighborhood with his beautiful flowers and would be constantly awarded “Yard of the Month”. He was a member of Campus Life Church in Tavares, FL.

Jerry loved fishing off his deck and talking to his alligators. He would feed the fish, neighborhood cats, and all the birds. He enjoyed boating and was always running errands. Jerry loved to shop and would go to the produce department daily.

Jerry loved his country – always wearing a veteran hat. He served in the US Air Force from 1958-1962. He was a 50 year member of the Peru Masonic Lodge & 50 year member Order of the Eastern Star.

He was a member of the Golden Triangle Sams camping club and made several friends traveling to different states with Carolyn. He was known as the “Candy Man” because he always had a pocket full of mints that he would hand out to strangers just to make them smile. He was a jokester and would always find a way of making you laugh, especially with his surprise “wet willies”.

Jerry had 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren – whom he loved dearly. Jerry and Carolyn’s sweet dog, Penny, would travel with them wherever they went.

Jerry will be dearly missed by many – Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
