Joe Thomas Barbour

Joe Thomas Barbour, 76, of Swayzee, passed away peacefully at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in his home. Born in Canmer, Kentucky, on June 18, 1948, to Floyd and Louise (Tinker) Barbour, Joe lived a life full of love and dedication.

On August 18, 1979, Joe married the love of his life, Mary J. Weaver.  He worked as a tool and die welder for 33 years at Chrysler, retiring on January 31, 2004. Joe found great joy in camping, fishing, barbecuing, and cooking for his family. He also had a passion for traveling, welding, fast cars, and motorcycles.

Joe’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Mary J. Barbour of Swayzee; his son, Andrew Barbour of Marion; his daughter, Twylia (Ron) Robbins of Atlanta, GA; and his grandsons, Aidan and Ashton Robbins. He is also survived by his siblings: Shirley (Robert, Jr.) Thompson of Canmer, KY; Rev. Douglas (Maggie) Barbour of Canmer, KY; Eunice Barbour of Louisville, KY; Ramona Barbour of Louisville, KY; and Tony (Deborah) Barbour of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Vickie Barbour; two step-sisters; one step-brother; special friends, Mildred Scott, Roger Dale Thompson, and Dean Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd B. Barbour and N. Louise Barbour Embry, and his brothers, Willie, James, Wayne, Chester, and Lonnie.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Joe’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Dr. Pastor Lonnie Anderson officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
