John Allen Adams, 84, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 11:56 pm, Friday, January 17, 2025, at Storypoint West in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on February 6, 1940, in Rochester, Indiana, to John “Jack” and Helen Irene (Moss) Adams.
John was a 1958 graduate of Wabash High School. He married Carole Stensel at the Wabash Presbyterian Church on July 13, 1969. John retired from Diehl Machines in Wabash after more than 38 years. In his previous healthier years, John attended the Lagro United Methodist Church and Bachelor Creek Church of Christ. John was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, and going to car shows to show off his yellow Plymouth Prowler. He was very involved in the Wabash Dave Kunkel Cruise-In. John collected pop tabs as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital until the day he died.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Adams of North Manchester, three children; Deborah (Ken) DeKoninck of Venice, Florida, David (Tamra) Adams of Yoder, Indiana, and Kristina (Michael) O’Brien of Newburgh, Indiana, nine grandchildren; Tiffany (Andrew) Smith, John (Brittney) DeKoninck, Amanda (Harry) Stafford, David Adams, Tia (Justin) Weimer, Blake (Carly) Adams, Autumn (Alex) Croft, Samuel Abell, and Johnathan Abell, 18 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and sister, Barbara Horton of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Ricky Wray Adams.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Andrews, Indiana. Friends may call 9:00 am – 11:00 am Thursday, at the funeral home.
