John Benjamin Eltzroth, 76, of Urbana, Indiana, died at 12:02 am, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his home. He was born on March 31, 1947, in Wabash, Indiana, to Eugene W. and Frances "Pinky" (Weimer) Eltzroth.
John was a 1965 graduate of Wabash High School, received his bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, and his master's from St. Francis University in Fort Wayne. He married Judy Witkoske at the Grace United Methodist Church in Urbana on August 15, 1970. John was an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Insurance in North Manchester for 10 years, and also sold advertising for The Paper of Wabash County. He was a member of the Urbana Yoke Parish, the Urbana Lions Club, and the IU Alumni Association. John enjoyed coaching baseball and tinkering around the garage.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Eltzroth of Urbana; two children, Amy (Jason) McDaniel of Michigan City, Indiana, and Andy (Nicole) Eltzroth of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; five grandchildren, Mira McDaniel, Christian McDaniel, Emma Eltzroth, Elaina Eltzroth, and Eliza Eltzroth. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Regena Foy and Christine Eltzroth Braatz.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Urbana Yoke Parish, with Brian Chamberlain and Rev. Chris Brock officiating. Burial will be in Speicher Cemetery, Urbana. Friends may call 4-7 pm Friday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorial is Urbana Yoke Parish.
