John E. Sherman, 73, Marion, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on October 7, 1951, to Orville Lee and Joan P. (Jones) Sherman.
John graduated from Marion High School. He worked at Essex, as well as in the Parts Department for Barry Bunker for 25 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved taking to Matter Park to go fishing. He also enjoyed watching Looney Toons with his grandchildren and watching NASCAR. John was a kind man, who loved to make people smile.
Survivors include his father, Orville Lee Sherman of Marion; daughter, Mandy (Tom) Beaudette of Sharpsville; son, David (Tracy) Sherman of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Nicole (Scott) Newlin, Jon Beaudette, Ashley Beaudette, Joseph Beaudette, Levi (Brie) Sherman, and Brittany Sherman; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bill (Julie) Sherman of Marion, Bob (Barb) Sherman of Marion, and Leroy Sherman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan P. Sherman.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
On Monday, December 23, 2024, a service to celebrate John’s life will take place at North Chapel at 11:00 am with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
