Julia K. Weinke, 92, of Peru, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Grandbrook Memory Care of Greenwood.
Julia was born on January 9, 1932 in Winchester, Kentucky to Andrew McKinley Caldwell and Elizabeth (Sparks) Caldwell. She married Carl R.“Dick” Weinke on November 1, 1953. Together, they raised 4 children. Dick preceded her in death on May 28, 2005.
Julia was retired from the City Clerk Treasurer’s Office where she worked as a Deputy Clerk. Family was extremely important to Julia, she was very involved with her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, reading a good book, and traveling.
She is survived by her children: David (Cynthia) Weinke of Plano, Texas, Stacey (Lee) Granger of Fishers, Indiana, JoAnne (Robert) Joyce of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and Melanie Bellock (Clarence Goodman) of Chicago, Illinois. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers: Verlon and Edward Caldwell, and sisters: Maxine Morguson, Esmarolda Johnson, and Robenia Yoder.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery.
