Julia M. Jessmon, 83, Marion, passed away at 8:45 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Michigan on Friday, January 17, 1941, to Luther and Madline (Schiber) Hairrell. She married Denis Jessmon, who preceded her.
Julia enjoyed watching TV and cherished her quiet moments. Her family was her world, and she loved them deeply. She was full of love and fiercely protective of her family. She had a passion for gardening and took great pride in her flowers. Crafting was another of her loves, and she excelled in ceramics, crocheting, and painting, always proud of her artistic talents. Dancing brought her joy, and she embraced it wholeheartedly.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Shane Auler; great-grandchildren, Harley Auler, Ashley Whisman, Emily Whisman, and Makayla Ball; great-great-grandchildren, Michael Whisman and Iylah Enyeart; and sisters, Marsha Adkins and Rosalie Tutt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Madline Hairrell; husband, Denis Jessmon; daughter, Kathy Ann Fitzgerald; brothers, David Hairrell and Larry Hairrell; and sisters Regina Auler and RoseMary Hairrell.
The family will receive visitors from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the visitation, a funeral to celebrate Julia’s life will begin at 11:30 am. Rev. Dan Van Cise will be officiating with burial following at Marion National Cemetery.
