Kathleen P. Morris, 99, Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana, (formally of Laketon, Indiana) went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 22, 2024. She was born November 4, 1925 near Sheridan, Indiana, to Doyle and Helena (Moore) Pruitt.
Kathleen graduated in 1943 from Westfield High School in Westfield, Indiana. After high school, Kathleen worked seven years at Levi Strauss & Co., Indianapolis, in the auditing department. Going back to school, Kathleen graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion in 1954. Using her degree, Kathleen taught music at Indiana Wesleyan University from 1954 to 1956.
On July 17, 1954, Kathleen married Rev. Floyd J. Morris. Kathleen and Floyd moved to Laketon in July of 1966, where she became a member of the Laketon Wesleyan Church and Floyd was the pastor for twelve years. Floyd later passed away on August 17, 2002, after forty-eight years of marriage.
During their time in the Laketon area, Kathleen taught elementary music in the Metropolitan School District of Wabash County (Urbana, Roann, Lagro, Southwood, LaFontaine, and Metro-North) for twenty-two years before retiring in 1988. She was also a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Her hobbies included playing the piano at church, spending time with family, and going to Florida for thirteen winters. In 2006 Kathleen moved to Goshen, where she spent the next thirteen years. In 2019, she moved back to North Manchester.
The loving memory of Kathleen Morris will be forever cherished by her daughter, Lucinda Morris, Laketon; granddaughter, Amber (Tanner) Cripe, Laketon; grandson, Derek (Ashlynn) Corbran, Peru; seven great-grandchildren; four nephews; and one niece. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Floyd Morris; brother, Robert Pruitt; and sister, Loueva Rhine.
Friends and family may call Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Laketon Wesleyan Church, 85 Lake Street, Laketon, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor Duane Cragun officiating. Burial will be held at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield, Indiana, at a later date.
