Kermit “Kessel” Harmon, 88, of Peru passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at home.
He was born August 6, 1935, in Lico, West Virginia to George G. Harmon and Reba (Mickles) Harmon. He married Norma (Eisenmenger) Harmon on September 26, 1956 and she survives.
Kessel served our country in the AirForce as a heavy equipment mechanic from 1955 until 1965. While in the AirForce, he played for the Spangdolem, Germany AirForce Base traveling softball team throughout Europe.
He retired after thirty years from Chrysler. He loved traveling and visited the lower 48 states. He also enjoyed square dancing, camping, NASCAR races, Pacer games, horse shoes, and corn hole games. He enjoyed helping others whether picking them up at the airport or building a pole barn. Kessel was a good husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, and great-great grandpa.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Kermit Harmon Jr. (Diana) Mexico, IN, Kathy (Harmon) Oldaker (Richard) Kokomo, IN, Danny (Annamarie) Harmon, Peru, IN, Sandy (Harmon) Krebs (David), Greentown, IN; twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and one great,great grandchild, two sisters Velma (Harmon) Cabello, Houston, TX and Patsy Lea Harmon, Peru, IN and one brother Kyle Harmon, Peru, IN.
Kessel is also proceeded in death by his parents and five brothers and seven sisters.
Visitation will be held at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third St. Peru, IN on Friday, March 8th, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 9th, 2024 at 11am.
