Leona June Ascherman, a devoted homemaker and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 92. Born on September 2, 1932, in Patriot, Indiana, she enriched the lives of many through her unwavering kindness, dedication, and radiant spirit.
Leona was cherished as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children: Carla (Ray) Parker, Michael (Gail) Ascherman, Robert Ascherman, and James Ascherman. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Brian Ascherman, Erin (Rob) Hunt, Bradley (Kim) Asherman, Travis Kellems, Tammy (Josh) Kornau and Jeff Parker, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. Leona is also survived by her brother, James Stewart.
She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Stewart, who was an integral part of her life.
Throughout her years, Leona demonstrated an unyielding commitment to community service, volunteering at Marion General Hospital, where she touched the lives of both patients and staff with her warmth and compassion. An avid reader, she found solace and inspiration in her Bible, a testament to her faith that guided her in life.
Her legacy will be celebrated during a visitation at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home located at 1202 West Kem Road, Marion, Indiana, on December 16, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest during a burial at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, 1606 West 26th Street, Marion, Indiana, commencing at 2:00 PM on the same day.
Leona June Ascherman will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
