Leonard P. Jones, 82, Upland, passed away at 7:27 am on Friday, May 24, 2024, at University Nursing Center. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, August 18, 1941, to Marjorie (Jones) Hall and was raised by his grandparents. On October 10, 1964, he married Sheila Cain.
Leonard graduated from Marion High School and worked for 38 years at General Motors. He was in the US Navy and served on the USS Forrestal. He loved NASCAR, going to car shows and was a fan of the Colts and Cubs. More than anything, he loved his family.
Survivors include granddaughters, Brooke (Harvey) Johnson, Sarah (Wesley) Baker; grandson, Wesley Jones, great-granddaughters, Kadence Jones, Norma Jean Baker, Amelia Wanderlich; brother, Rick Hall, and special friends, Cindy Waggy and Doug Waggy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Hall; wife, Sheila Jones; son, Dirk Jones; great-granddaughter, Kiley Jones; stepfather, Harry Hall; and brothers, Mike Hall, Ronald Hall, and David Hall.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Leonard's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ken Dykhoff officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
