Linda Kay Timmons, a cherished soul born on August 10, 1947, in Marion Indiana, peacefully passed away in her residence on October 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, she touched the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
She dedicated her professional life to the service of others, working in housekeeping at Wabash Hospital and later serving as a medical assistant at Marion General Hospital. Her compassion for others extended beyond her career, as she was also an active member of her community. A proud wife of a Marine, she embodied strength and resilience, reflecting a passion for life and a commitment to those she loved.
Education was important to Linda, and she earned her Associate degree from Harrison College in Marion, Indiana, paving the way for her future endeavors. Alongside her work and education, Linda identified herself as a “bookworm,” reveling in the joy of collecting and reading books.
In addition to her hobbies, Linda’s heart overflowed with affection for her family. She delighted in being a grandma, a role she cherished deeply, spending countless joyful moments creating memories with her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She embraced every opportunity to connect and nurture the next generations of her family, ensuring the warmth of her love enveloped them.
A woman of many interests, Linda was an avid member of the American Pool Players Association (APA), a former member of the VFW Auxiliary and active in the American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary and AmVets Post 5 Auxiliary. In her youth, she sang with the Gospel Travelers, demonstrating her vibrant spirit and passion for life. Linda’s personality shone brightly, her laughter filled the hearts of those around her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Timmons, whom she married on May 18, 1974. Together, they created a loving home, filled with warmth and understanding. Linda leaves behind her sons, Jon (Heather), Eric (Rachelle), Brent (Jen), and Ryan (Angie) Timmons. She also leaves her treasured sisters, Ellen Rife, Kathy Throckmorton, and Jeanne (Terry) Thomas, along with a legacy of love that continues through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home in Marion, Indiana on October 10, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at Marion National Cemetery Chapel, located on the main campus, on October 11, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at 10:00 AM.
Linda Kay Timmons’ life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and commitment to family. She will be dearly missed, and her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those she left behind.
