Lisa Renée Bennett

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lisa Renée Bennett, a beloved daughter, mother, friend, and companion, on June 13, 2024, at the age of 53. Lisa was born on September 23, 1970, in Goshen, Indiana, where she spent her formative years.

Lisa’s journey began at Fairfield High School in Goshen and continued at Ball State University. She found joy and purpose driving semis for Motor City X LLC in Detroit, Michigan. It was during her time driving semis that she met her companion, Jeff “Ty” Coggins. They shared 15 wonderful years together, doing things together, and building a relationship that was unmatched. Lisa’s kind and easy-going nature endeared her to many, and she cherished the simple moments of life.

Lisa’s zest for life and appreciation of simplicity shone through in everything she did. She enjoyed strolling along Florida beaches, collecting seashells, and crafting picture frames from her finds. Her love for photography captured the beauty she saw in the world around her, reflecting her gentle and thoughtful spirit.

In October, Lisa and Ty planned to embark on a new chapter in Florida, a dream they shared and nurtured together. Lisa’s unwavering faith sustained her, guiding her through challenges, including her battle with cancer. Throughout her journey, she found support from dear friends like Tom and Jan Surface and the Ribbon of Hope, who stood by her side with compassion and care.

The loving memory of Lisa Bennett will be forever cherished by her mother, Karen E. (Metzger) Frantz, North Manchester; son, Harley (Alexandra Collins) Shingledecker, Three Rivers, Michigan; companion, Jeff “Ty” Coggins, Nappanee; brother, LaMont (Tiffany) Bennett, Warsaw; step-brother, Joe Frantz, Tipp City, Ohio; brother-in-law, Fred Gish; several nephews and nieces; her friends Tom and Jan Surface, Elkhart; and all the people at Ribbon of Hope. Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Chauncey L. Bennett; brother, LaMar A. Bennett; and step-sister, Gail Gish.

Family and friends may call Monday, June 17, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be held at the Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery, 12546 North State Road 13, North Manchester.
