Lois Lee Smith

Lois Lee Smith, 91, formerly of rural Urbana, Indiana, died 12:15 pm, Monday, October 7, 2024, at Wellbrooke of Wabash.  She was born on July 11, 1933, in Gas City, Indiana, to Carl and Sarah (Malott) Harris.

Lois was a 1952 graduate of Mississinewa High School. She married Lowell “Smitty” Smith in Gas City, Indiana on August 29, 1959; he died April 13, 1986. Lois was a homemaker and a member of the Wabash Presbyterian Church. She also belonged to Tri Kappa, Elks Lodge, and the YMCA, all of Wabash. She enjoyed playing tennis with her lady friends, walking her dog, was an avid bridge player and a super Purdue fan.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Ann (Thomas) Mathews of New Castle, Indiana and Tamara Jo (Charles Pardo) Smith of Zionsville, Indiana; son-in-law, Bryan Frank of Urbana; three grandchildren, Megan (Alex) Huiras and Brandon (Emily) Frank, both of Urbana, and Sydney Mathews of New Castle; three great-grandchildren, Harper Frank, Reece Frank, and Emmett Huiras, all of Urbana. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kimberly Susan Frank; brother, Bill Harris; and two sisters, Mary Jane Pearson and Bonnie Davis.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Laura Helm officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.  Friends may call 1-2 pm Sunday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Wabash County YMCA or the Alzheimer’s Association.
