Lori Jo Carter, 59, Jonesboro, passed away surrounded by her loving family at 1:29 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, November 1, 1965, to Dorvin and Susie (Medlin) Sprowl. On April 10, 2010, she married Jeffery Loyd Carter and he survives.
Lori attended Oak Hill High School but graduated from Mississinewa High School and attended Huntington College. She worked as a line inspector at United Technologies and was a proud IBEW local 983 member where she served as chief steward, insurance coordinator and labor organizer. She was a very proud, outspoken member of the Democratic party. She was in the middle of making quilts for her grandchildren. She loved life and loved helping people. She had a very big heart and was passionate about things. She wrote, “My mother was a leading political activist from the 1970’s through the 1990’s. I’m glad she isn’t living through the last 7 years.” Now, Lori doesn’t have to put up with another administration that perpetuates the subjugation of women and minorities.
Survivors include her husband, Jeffery Loyd Carter of Jonesboro; daughters, Amanda Nichole Corcoran, Christine Lynn (Durk Jones) Carter; son, Jeffery Lee Scott Carter; grandchildren, Ava Vail Corcoran, Harlan Colt Cocoran, Xalyn Rae Carter, Cameron Dee Greene, Kalyn Shay Greene; dog babies, Haus and Booboo; sister, Barb Enslen; best friends, Shelly Seres and Edward Bounds; as well as many loved nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sisters-in law, Shari (Greg) Crow, Nancy (Doug)Thompson, Lisa Carter and brothers-in-law, Ben (Brenda) Carter and Jack Ditton.
