Lt. Colonel Jerry Richard Perkins

Lt. Colonel Jerry Richard Perkins, USAF, retired, 75, of rural Roann, Indiana, died at 11:43 am, Saturday, November 16, 2024, at his home.  He was born on September 29, 1949, in Anderson, Indiana, to Kenneth Roy and Alice Maude (Imler) Perkins. Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Madison Heights High School in Anderson. He received his BS from Indiana University, Masters from Troy State, and Masters in Computer Science from Webster University. Jerry married Myra Sue Deepe in South Bend, Indiana on September 12, 1970; she died January 31, 2019. He was a US Air Force pilot, flying both F4s and F16s, retiring after 22 1/2 years. He also retired from Ivy Tech, where he taught Business and Computer Science classes. Jerry was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wabash and the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity at Indiana University. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and watching sports on television, especially the IU basketball team. He is survived by two sons, Seth Thomas (Emily) Perkins of Roann, and Coy "Ryan" (Bobbi) Perkins of LaFontaine, Indiana; six grandchildren, Chalice (Trevor Yenna) Starling of Greenwood, Indiana, Chaston Starling and Cedar Perkins, both of Indianapolis, Indiana, Makayla (Jordan) Schlie of Huntington, Indiana, Zachary Rorick of New Haven, Indiana, and Madison (Dylan) Grahovac of Columbia City, Indiana; eight great grandchildren, Sailor Starling, Ryker Starling, Alex Martinez, Angelo Martinez, Rilynn Schlie, Georgia Grahovac, Penny Grahovac, and Hazel Grahovac; sister, Martha Perkins of Los Angeles, California, and brother, Ken (Beth) Perkins of Wabash.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Karen Rodgers. A memorial service will be 10:30 am, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, 110 W. Sinclair Street, Wabash, with Rev. Nathan Whybrew officiating. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 am Saturday at the church. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash. Preferred memorial is Ivy Tech Foundation.
