Lynda S. Cox

Lynda S. Cox, born on October 18, 1941, in Redkey, Indiana, to William “Bill” and D. Virginia (Evans) Moyer, left this world unexpectedly on October 7, 2024. She was a remarkable woman whose life was woven together with love, humor, and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
With a spirit that could light up any room, Lynda was known for her infectious laughter and her signature phrase, “oh boy,” which she used to express her mild disapproval or disagreement, always accompanied by a twinkle in her eye. Those who knew her remember the warmth in her demeanor and the way she could turn the tough times into moments of clarity and comfort. For many, Lynda was more than a friend; she was the confidante that one could always turn to when life felt challenging, offering wisdom wrapped in kindness.
An avid reader, Lynda had a particular fondness for the writings of John Grisham. Beyond her love for literature, she found joy in nurturing her garden and cherishing the beauty of nature through the feeding and observation of birds. These passions brought her immense happiness and peace, as she delighted in the simple pleasures of life.
In 1980, Lynda married Russell Cox, creating a partnership filled with love and laughter. Together, they built a life rich in memories and shared experiences. Lynda was not only a loving wife but a devoted mother and grandmother, who cherished each moment spent with her family.
For many years, Lynda worked at Country Clean Laundromat, where her friendly demeanor and hard work became a hallmark of her character. She embraced every opportunity to connect with others, generously sharing her insight and warmth.
The loving memory of Lynda S. Cox will be forever cherished by her husband, Russell Cox, Silver Lake; sons, Walter, (Cheryl) Cox, Brown County and Darrin Cox, Indianapolis; daughters, Jennifer Doyle, Roanoke, Della (Jim) Cox, Pink, Oklahoma, and Peggy Burtner, Akron; grandchildren, Jeff (ShaNell) Iseton, Stephen Iseton, Ashley Revels, Nathan Cox, and Cassandra Burke; seven great-grandchildren; and all the friends she made over the years. Lynda was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons; son-in-law, John Burtner; and brother, Larry Moyer.
At Lynda’s request, there will not be a formal funeral service, but a gathering of her family and good friends to celebrate the life she lived. As we remember Lynda, we hold tightly to the memories—in laughter, in advice offered, and in the moments shared. She will surely be missed, but her spirit and the love she shared will be eternally cherished by those fortunate enough to have known her. The beauty she brought to our lives will forever be imprinted in our hearts.
For those who wish to honor the memory of Lynda S. Cox, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
