Martin Lewis Schaaf

Martin Lewis Schaaf, 76, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 4:48 pm, Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  He was born on May 10, 1948, in Three Rivers, Michigan, to Robert and Alice (Barrone) Schaaf.

Martin was a 1966 graduate of Wabash High School. He married Sherry Ann Tait in Wabash on August 26, 1967; she died February 10, 2015. Martin was a US Marine veteran serving in Vietnam. He worked at C.M.I./Harvey Industries in Wabash for 32 years retiring in 2012. Martin was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as elder, taught Sunday school, and also served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was the Commander and a life member of the Wabash V.F.W. Post 286, as well as a member of Wabash American Legion Post 15.

He is survived by three daughters; Stephanie (Leroy) Shetler, Amanda Shull, and Jennifer Brockhaus, all of Wabash, six grandchildren; Jim (Gloria) King, Daniel King, Paloma Shull, Bobby Shull, Demetri Shull, and Allison Brockhaus, all of Wabash, and three great-grandchildren; Chase King, Shannon King, and Kailynn King, all of Wabash.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Shannon King, and brother, Robert A. Schaaf.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Friday, February 7, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash, with Pastor Nathan Schieber officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash.  Friends may call 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Thursday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Zion Lutheran Church.
