Mary A Smith, 82, Jonesboro, passed away suddenly at 11:29 am on Saturday, October 26, 2024, while at her son’s home in Jonesboro surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Saturday, June 6, 1942, to Samuel and Neda (Lowden) Columbus.
Mary enjoyed playing games with her children and grandchildren. She loved all of her grandpuppies, too. She enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, riding motorcycles and watching her old cowboy shows on repeat. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and canning. She loved making her special homemade meatballs and spaghetti dinners for her family. He best friend was her cat, Itsy. She loved her car, a Buick Park Avenue and keeping it clean and shiny.
Survivors include her children, Randall (Diana) Brown of Jonesboro, Kimberly (Robert) Thrailkill of Marion, Vincent (Colleen) Miskovich of Marion, Ronnie Smith of Swayzee; sister, Dolly (Bob) McCoy; brothers, Tony Columbus, Perry (Diana Branham) Columbus, Donald Columbus; grandchildren, Nathan (Clair) Myers Brown, Craig Sterling Brown, Dawn (Ben) Kern, Patrina Brown, Brondall (Jeremy ) Huntszinger, Misty (Jarred) Luckey, Amanda (Nick) Guerin, Jessica (Johnny) Todd, Melissa (Tanner) Brown, Owen Sean Smith, Alden Vindalle Smith, 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Cindy Columbus; and daughter-in-law, Kathy J. Brown Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Neda Columbus; brother, Samuel Columbus; sister, Sandra Swafford; and sister-in-law, Pat Columbus.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Mary’s life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
