Max “Brent” Weismantel, 75, Marion, passed away at 2:10 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Aperion Care in Marion. He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on Thursday, December 16, 1948, to Max and Norma (Coffman) Weismantel.
In 1967, Brent graduated from Mississinewa High School where he had been an Indians football player. Following high school, he attended Ball State University before he joined the United States Army. Having achieved the rank of SP5 during the Vietnam War, he served from 1970-1972 and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, Brent worked as an Insurance Adjuster for 45 years. Brent retired in 2005 and moved from Pendleton and back to Marion in 2018. He was a well-respected Assistant Leader in Boy Scouts of America Troop 232, Pendleton. He loved attending Civil War battlefields with his friend, Dusty and took a lot of excursions from camping to attending concerts around the state with his friend, Dave. Brent loved spending weekends with Lily, his favorite grandchild.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Davis of Marion; son, Joe (Jennifer) Weismantel of Buchanan, MI; sister, Edrya Dailey of Gas City; granddaughter, Lily Davis of Russiaville; niece, Emily Dailey of Gas City, best friends, Dave Jack of Noblesville, and Dusty Rhodes of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max Phylip and Norma J. Weismantel; brother-in-law, Ed Dailey; and nephew, Erik Joseph Dailey.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Brent’s life will begin at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 11:00 am at Marion National Cemetery.
