Max Denney, 89, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 6:20 pm, Sunday, September 8, 2024, at his home. He was born on July 22, 1935, in Wabash, Indiana, to Darwin "John" and Dolores (Jeffries) Denney.
Max was a 1953 graduate of Noble High School. He married Janet Louise Hodel at St. Matthew's Evangelical Church in Wabash on July 29, 1956. Max worked and co-owned Denney Motor Sales in Wabash. He attended Wabash Christian Church. Max and his wife moved to Houston, Texas in 1981 and moved back to Wabash in 2017. While down in Texas Max also worked as an insurance salesman for Bankers Life & Casualty and Jackson Life. He enjoyed flying, had his private pilot license, and even co-owned a plane. Max enjoyed country music, watching westerns, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Indiana University basketball fan. He also enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids sporting events, especially Little League and Pony League.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Louise Denney of Wabash, four children; John Paul "JP" (Jennifer) Denney of Wabash, Joseph M. (Juliet) Denney of Sacramento, California, Diane Louise (Stan) Johnson of Bluffton, Indiana, and Lisa Ann (Terry) Sutton of Wabash, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Lawrence Denney, Mary Louise Thompson, Donald Denney, Carol Joan Schetzsle, David (Carolyn) Denney, Robert (Ellen) Denney, and Steven (Marian) Denney. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin Mark Denney, and sister, Donna "Kathy" Swan.
Memorial services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash, with Rev. Ron Zorn officiating. Inurnment will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday, at the funeral home.
