Miami County Community Foundation Grants to Rotary

MIAMI COUNTY, IN- The Miami County Community Foundation recently granted $500 to the Peru Rotary Club. The funds will be used for the club’s “Shoes that Fit” program that partners with county schools to help provide students in need with new shoes. The initiative started over 20 years ago and has provided more than 1,000 pairs of shoes and socks to local students. In recent years, the club averaged 50 pairs of shoes and socks among the three county schools per academic year.

“I find that this program has a special place in my heart as well as [in the hearts of] my fellow Rotarians,” says the Shoes that Fit Chair, Jeff Altmiller. “Thank you for supporting the Peru Rotary and helping our children take the next great steps in life.”

Grants like this one are made possible through the Foundation’s Miami County Community Funds, which currently have a $2:$1 donation matching initiative. These funds are endowed, ensuring their enduring positive influence on Miami County for generations to come.

Other examples of projects and organizations that have received community fund grants include scholarships for local preschoolers, the Cole Porter Festival, a new sign for Ole Olsen, Feed My Sheep food program, and many more.
