MIAMI COUNTY, IN- On June 13th, 2024, at 10:16am Miami County Detectives responded to an address on Travis Street at the Estates at Eagle's Point for an injury to a 5-month-old child. The infant was transported by air to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with serious injuries. On June 16th the infant was flown from Fort Wayne to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis for further treatment. The child remains in guarded condition.
On June 17th a probable cause affidavit was approved by Miami County Circuit Court for the arrest of Gage Church, age 22, father of the infant. Mr. Church was charged with one count of neglect resulting in catastrophic injury, a level one felony. Count two, neglect resulting in serious bodily injury, a level three felony. Count three, domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a level three felony. Count four, possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor. Mr. Church was arrested without incident and taken into custody where he was booked at the Miami County Jail on a $100,000 surety bond.
