Michael Leonard Arwood, 73, of Denver, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Michael was born on October 14, 1951, in Peru, Indiana, to Leonard and Katie (Siders) Arwood. On October 14, 1972, he married the love of his life, Linda (Crookham) Arwood, who survives him.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1973, achieving the rank of E4 and serving on the Chaparral missile system. He retired from Midland Lumber in Peru after 32 years of dedicated service.
A man of many talents and passions, Michael was known for his skill in restoring vintage Wheel Horse tractors and working on cars. He participated in demolition derbies, figure-eight races, and drag racing during his life, earning admiration for his adventurous spirit. Above all, Michael cherished spending time with his family, who were the center of his world. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished friend to many.
In addition to his beloved wife Linda, Michael is survived by his children, Michael William Arwood (Patsy) of Peru and Tracy Lynn Arwood (Daniel) of Peru; his grandchildren, Michael Phillip Arwood (Jordan) of Peru, Patrick Allen Arwood (Rachael) of Peru, Kyrsten Vigar (Zach) of Denver, Katie Arwood of Peru, Braxton Dewey of Lebanon, Nathaniel Arwood of Peru, and Ayden Selleck of Peru; and seven great-grandchildren.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Katie Arwood, and his brothers, Patrick Allen Arwood and Donnie Ray Arwood.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at the Moose Lodge in Peru at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help with expenses.
