Mildred O. Fisher, 107, Marion, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 10, 2025, at her residence in Marion. She was born in Pataskala, Ohio, on July 14, 1917, to Arthur and Della (Hunter) Osborn. She married Rev. Donald C. Fisher on August 30, 1939, and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2013.
Mildred graduated from high school in Ohio, after having lived in Concordia, Kansas, and Marion, Indiana. She then attended Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University), where she met her husband and received her Associate’s Degree in Education in 1937. Mildred was an elementary teacher, pastor’s wife in Ohio and Indiana, church pianist and treasurer, and a homemaker, where she cared, not only for her children, but also for her parents.
Mildred was a member of Nelson Street Wesleyan Church and Wesleyan Women International.
Survivors include her children Duane Fisher of Fridley, MN, Roberta (Don) Zent of Wilmore, KY, Carlton (Joyce) Fisher of Binghamton, NY, and Kathy (John) Ott of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Angela (Patrick) Enders, Douglas (Melissa), Beth (Theron) Bell, Mark (Jennifer), Kevin (Autumn) Zent, Jenna (Gualberto) Alfonseca, Cammi (David) Hanna, Ryan (Lori), Jason (Alex), Stephanie (Camilo) Rodriguez, Lindsey (Lincoln) Miller, and Alisha (Kent) Trammell; 30 great-grandchildren, Jamie and Hunter Bell, Carl Zent, Sarah Bell, Henry, Greta and Lucy Zent, Allison Fisher, Layna Miller, Audrey Fisher, Samuel Alfonseca, Landry Miller, Isaac Fisher, Phoebe Zent, Ruby Alfonseca, Lydia Fisher, Elijah Fisher, Della Alfonseca, Levrett Miller, Luca Rodriguez, Smith Trammell, Vivian Hanna, Norah Rodriguez, Fisher Trammell, Jackson Fisher, Isaac Hanna, Nico Rodriguez, Virginia Trammell, Cole Fisher, and Juniper Hanna; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Florence (Bill) Emerson; her husband; a son, Robert Fisher; and a daughter-in-law, Martha Fisher.
Mildred was a quiet saint. Her extraordinary traits were contentment and thankfulness.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Mildred’s life will begin at 3:00 pm with Rev. Don Glenn giving the meditation. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Colonial Oaks Assisted Living, where Mildred lived for the last twelve years of her life. She was loved by all, and many called her the Queen. In addition to the CO staff, the family wishes to thank her other loving caregivers.
