Missy was born August 18, 1967, at the Ellsworth Air Force base in Rapid City, South Dakota to Wayne Lewis Roper and Beulah “Faye” (Jent) Roper. She married Jeffrey Soctt Kay on February 28, 1986, he survives.
Missy earned her GED and then her Certified Nursing Assistant degree in 1994. She enjoyed working in nursing homes, especially with Alzheimer and Dementia patients. She had a heart for making people feel loved and special. In 2006 she graduated from Indiana Business College with an Associates of Applied Science in Medical Office Administration.
Missy was diagnosed with Scleroderma on December 24, 2008. She was adamant about living her life to the fullest and not being defined by her disease. She always said she had Scleroderma; it didn’t have her. She was very strong and fought hard until the last moment.
She loved to read, draw, color, and crochet. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was kind to everyone and always enjoyed helping others when she was able. She was deeply loved in life and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Amber (Michael) Biven of Marion, IN, Robert Kay (Daniel Kribs) of Albuquerque, NM; and Jessica Kay of Muncie, IN; seven grandchildren: Jordan Santiago, Jazmyn Tipton, Gabriel Biven, Ryker Kay, Samuel Biven, Jensen Kay, and Jonas Cotter.
