Mitchell A. Sloan, a devoted father, passionate machine operator, and cherished friend, departed from this world on October 5, 2024, at the tender age of 29. Born on November 29, 1994, in Marion, Indiana, Mitchell lived a life defined by his kindness, love for family, and an unwavering zest for life.
A dedicated machine operator at Red Gold in Elwood, Indiana, Mitchell was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to lend a hand to those in need. He was a good man who always extended his help to others, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and generosity in both his professional and personal life.
Outside of work, Mitchell thrived on pursuing his many interests. Among his greatest joys was working on cars, an activity that allowed him to express his creativity and technical skills. His heart also beat for music and horror movies, with a special fondness for “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” He could often be found honing his skills at the pool table or engaging in playful banter with friends during gaming sessions under the screen name “evilemokid94.”
Mitchell was not only known for his hobbies but also for the immense love he had for his family, particularly for his daughter, Alayna. He cherished spending time with her, often taking her to parks and visiting Sky Zone in Kokomo, ensuring their moments together were filled with laughter and joy. His warmth and nurturing spirit created a bond that will forever be treasured.
Mitchell leaves behind a loving family that includes his father, Mike (Inez) Sloan and mother, Missy Brannen (Chris). He is also survived by his sister, Heather Oliver; ex-wife, Katie Jordan; son and daughter, Layton and Alayna Sloan; paternal grandparents, Max Sloan and Cheryl Preston; as well as aunts and uncles, Phyllis (Michael) Guy, Brian (Kerri Ball) Sloan, and Mark (Joyce) McKee. He will be fondly remembered by his nephew, Jaxon Alridge, and numerous cousins who hold dear memories of the time he shared with them.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Ellen Lucas, who greeted him with open arms as he entered eternal rest.
Visitation and memorial services will be held on October 11, 2024, at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home in Marion, Indiana, beginning at 3 PM and culminating with a memorial service at 5 PM.
