N. Jean Wolf, 98, North Manchester, formerly of Fort Wayne, was born August 17, 1925 to Dennis and Lena (Brooks) Highsmith in Akron, Ohio. She passed away January 31, 2024 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester.
Jean attended Manchester College where she met her husband, Walter Otho Wolf, who preceded her in death in 1991. When her youngest daughter started first grade, Jean returned to college and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education, followed by her Master's Degree.
A seamstress, musician, and teacher of many 5th graders at Price Elementary School, Jean sought knowledge and friendship wherever she went. She loved people, travel, the color blue, pretty things, and a clean house.
After living in Fort Wayne for many years, she moved to Timbercrest Retirement Community in North Manchester for her last 15 years. She was loved and well cared for by her friends and the awesome staff during her time there. In Fort Wayne, she attended and was a member of Lincolnshire Church of the Brethren and later the Manchester Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Wolf, Deb Wolf (favorite son-in-law Rick Rupel), and Nancy Wolf; her student exchange daughter in India, Rita Alfred; grandchildren Andy Rupel, Jason Wolf, and Lena Nix; and great-grandchildren, Hadley Rupel and Jared Nix.
A celebration of N. Jean Wolf’s life will be held, Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, with a reception immediately following.
