Nancy Kay Burton

Nancy Kay Burton, born to Glen C. and Willadean V. (Kamp) Keaffaber on November 6, 1944, in Wabash, Indiana, passed away on October 18, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was a beloved presence in many lives, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A proud graduate of Manchester High School in 1962, Nancy further honed her skills at Warner Beauty College, graduating in 1963. On October 8, 1966 Nancy married Robert “Bob” Burton. During their time together, they were blessed with five children. In Nancy’s younger years, she owned and operated Clip and Curls in Liberty Mills, transforming the lives of her clients through her skilled hands and warm heart. Following her passion for helping others, she dedicated eleven years to working diligently as a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) at Timbercrest Senior Living. Her compassionate nature carried over into her role at Helpers Home Care of Fort Wayne until her retirement. Her commitment to both her craft and her clients was admirable, and she always approached her work with kindness and compassion.
Nancy’s remarkable spirit shone brightly throughout her life. She was known for her unwavering ability to put others before herself, always concerned about the well-being of those around her. Her forthright personality meant she spoke her mind, offering honesty and sincerity to friends and family alike. Despite facing various health challenges, Nancy bore them with grace and dignity, never allowing the burdens she carried to darken her spirit or dampen her kindness. As a child, diagnosed with Polio, she was told by doctors that walking or having children would be impossible. With her undeniable tenacity, faith, and a heart full of determination, Nancy not only defied these limitations but also embraced life to its fullest. Faith was always important to Nancy and for many years she was a member of the Missionary Church in North Manchester.
The loving memory of Nancy Kay Burton will be forever cherished by her husband of fifty-eight years, Robert “Bob” Burton Sr., North Manchester; children, Robert “Rob” Burton Jr., Elkhart, Rod (Chris) Burton, Fort Wayne, Jodi (John) Pernell, Elkhart, Ryan (Tina) Burton, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Andy (Sydni) Burton, Panama City Beach, Florida; brother, Bill (Jane) Keaffaber, Kokomo; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Gary Keaffaber.
The family of Nancy Burton will have a private graveside at a later date. Burial will be at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.
