IN- With Breast Cancer Awareness Month in full swing, now is the time to show support and join the fight against this disease that affects nearly 1 in 8 women.
According to the American Cancer Society, over 300,000 women and over 2,000 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and more than 42,000 women and 500 men will die from breast cancer in the U.S. this year. |
With breast cancer, early detection and screenings play a significant role in increasing survival rates. Getting yearly screenings such as mammograms and clinical breast exams can locate breast cancer even when no symptoms or warning signs are present.

Women with dense breast tissue can present a higher risk because the fatty tissue makes it more difficult to identify and diagnose cancer. A new law has been issued to improve breast cancer screenings and prevention. Hoosier women with dense breast tissue are now informed of their breast density after a mammogram and receive documentation with more information.

Let's join together and support our fellow Hoosiers as they fight bravely against breast cancer and honor those we've lost. |
