O. LaVonne Mauller, 97, of Marion, passed away at 4:48 am on Sunday, October 27, 2024, in her home. She was born in Hammond, Indiana, on Sunday, May 15, 1927, to Clarence and Lulu (Bates) Rook. On January 16, 1948 she married Billy Mauller, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1988.
LaVonne had served in the Auxiliary Am Vets and was a long time member of Grace Community Church. She enjoyed crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, and reading. She dedicated her time to the care of her family, especially raising her children. LaVonne was a caring, patient, and loving woman who will be missed by the generations of family that she leaves behind.
Survivors include her sons, Billy A. Mauller of Marion and Jon T. (Robin) Mauller of Marion; daughter, Kathryn I. “Kim” (Richard) Watson of Gas City; grandchildren, Jason Mauller, Angel (Darryl) Fowler, Stephanie Harper, Shane Watson, and Nicole (BeShaun) Richard; several great and great-great-grandchildren; plus many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Canada Rook; mother, Lulu Kathryn Rook; husband, Billy Mauller; grandson, Clint Mauller; sisters, Iva Brower, Glendora Titus, Betty Rix, Pat Huegel, and Neidra Nelson; and brothers, Wally Rook and Jr. Rook.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate LaVonne’s life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park cemetery in Marion.
