Pamela Sue Smith

Pamela Sue Smith, 64, of Evansville, Indiana (formerly Peru) passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville. She was born on March 14, 1960, in Madison, Wisconsin to Donald Trakel and Delanne (Schwartz) Trakel. As a child of a United States Air Force member, she spent her early years residing overseas, with a particular fondness for Bitburg, Germany. In 1978, she graduated from Maconaquah High School in the top ten percent of her class. She married James Smith in 1979 at the Church of Christ at Grissom in Peru. Pamela dedicated her life to motherhood, teaching her daughters the importance of education and hard work. She doted on her grandchildren.  In later years, she developed a soft spot for animals of all varieties. Overall, she blessed her family with a comfortable home full of warm memories that will continue even after her passing. Pamela is survived by her husband, James, of Evansville; her mother, Delanne, of Peru; her sister, Kathy Latta and her partner, David Walker, of Galveston, Indiana; her two daughters, Melanie (Richard) Davis of Carmel, Indiana and Jennifer (Michael) Lorona of Walton, Indiana; and her two grandsons, Cayden Lorona and Christian Davis. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald. Visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Flowers-Leedy/Allen Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Flowers-Leedy/Allen Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park in Logansport, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Miami County Animal Shelter.
