Patrick Fernandes, 74, Marion, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Marion Health. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on February 19, 1950, to Joseph and Helen (Frisbie) Fernandes.
Patrick graduated from Marion High School in 1968 and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Purdue University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in family and consumer services. Patrick was a member at St. Paul Catholic Church and a member of Painters Union Local. He had owned and managed the restaurant, The Philadeli.
Patrick loved his family dearly. He was an accomplished woodworker and carpenter, and he retired from a career in social services. He enjoyed reading, learning new things, playing the piano, music, writing songs, and gardening. In his younger years, he was in a rock ‘n’ roll band.
Survivors include his children, Brooke (Richard) Detamore, Lindsay (Nathanial Schroeder) Fernandes, Tyler Joseph (Irma) Fernandes, and Jessica Alexander; grandchildren, Michael, Stacia, James, Evelyn, Julia, Richie, Jackson, Jace, and Lucy; siblings, Jo-Marie Robinson, Kathleen Ferguson, Wendy Fernandes, Nancy Fernandes, Mary Fernandes, and Andrew Fernandes; and special friends, Jonathon, Jeff, and Devin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judith Tyson.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 W. Kem Rd., Marion, IN 46952.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Patrick’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Father Hilary N. Okeke officiating.
