Penny Lee Blocher, born on March 3, 1951, in Fort Wayne, to Cecil Paul and Gladys Marion (Ball) Metzger, passed away on January 13 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, whose life was marked by her profound devotion to family, faith, and her vocation.
Penny graduated from Whitko High School in 1969 and initially embraced the role of a stay-at-home mother, devoting her early years to nurturing and supporting her children. Eventually, she transitioned to the workforce, contributing her skills at Timbercrest in the Dietary Department before becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Over the span of thirty-eight years, Penny dedicated herself to the care of others, retiring in 2017. Throughout her career, Penny embodied the essence of what it meant to be a caregiver. Her extraordinary ability to connect with others and her unwavering positivity set her apart as a truly remarkable individual.
Penny’s life was a beautiful testament to the power of love. She possessed an incredible ability to make everyone feel valued and cherished. Her ministry was woven through her everyday interactions, as she often showed Jesus through her kindness and genuine concern for others. She had a heart filled with love, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Penny’s approach was characterized by kindness and empathy; she never spoke ill of anyone and consistently aimed to uplift those around her.
The loving memory of Penny Blocher will be forever cherished by her children, Michelle (Gregory) Coon, North Manchester, Jason (Chastity) Blocher, Urbana, and Jerrold (Sarah Hardin) Blocher, Warsaw; sisters, Anita Ivankovig, LaPorte and Debbie Wilcoxson, Pierceton; thirteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Penny was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Jim Ivankovig and Steve Wilcoxson.
Family and friends may call Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with calling at 9:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, Indiana.
