PERU, IN- The Peru Rotary Club 2024 Spellathon will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 6pm-8pm at Blair Pointe Upper Elementary School in Peru. Organize a team of family members, friends, fellow employees, or associates to compete in the 2024 Spellathon and/or sponsor a letter and receive recognition at the event. Teams are encouraged to show their spirit with enthusiasm, entertaining attire, and an original team name. A spirit prize will be awarded by a vote of the participants. There will be a prize for the team with the best name, too.
Here’s how the Spellathon works:
• Each team will consist of up to 5
members. All team members must
be 13 years old by March 14, 2024.
• 1 point will be awarded for each
regular word that is spelled correctly.
3 points will be awarded for each
bonus word that is spelled correctly.
• In the event of a tie, a sudden-death
“spell-off” of up to ten words will
take place. A tie will only result if
more than one team still is in
competition after the tenth word.
Those words typically will be more
challenging than the bonus words.
• The winning team will receive
trophies. Some other participants will
receive door prizes, as well!
• Snacks and drinks will be provided.
• A non-participant seating area will be
available for family, friends, and
supporters.
