Phillip Morris Tolley, 81, of Peru passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 21, 2024. He had been under hospice care the last 5 months. He loved giving the nurses a hard time, then hugging them and expressing his gratitude for their care.
He was born August 10, 1943, in Kokomo, Indiana to Sam and Agnes Tolley. He married his soulmate Beverly A. Ballinger on January 9, 1988, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by their children, Troy and Tyron Tolley, Gary and Greg Basham, and Polly Irwin. Also surviving are sisters, Florence Barker and Rosie Meives. Coming from a large family, many have preceded him in death. There is no doubt that a family reunion is taking place in Heaven.
Family was important to Phil, and many have said he was their favorite relative. His love of others extended to animals as well. He will be greatly missed by his sweet dog, Ricci, who was his faithful companion.
His passion was landscaping, and he certainly had a talent for it. He was always making their yard into a masterpiece to be admired by all.
A private family celebration of life will be held at his and Bev’s house with his nephew, Rick Tolley and granddaughter, Jamin Irwin providing encouraging words and prayer.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Phil’s honor.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
