Public invited to free cultural music experience with Chilean musicians and poetry

Wabash, IN– Honeywell Arts & Entertainment’s CommUNITY Arts Program and Bridging Worlds will present Canturia de mi Sangre (Song of my Blood), a concert experience featuring Chilean musicians and poetry on Tuesday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the Manchester High School Auditorium. CommUNITY Arts is a multi-week collaboration between Honeywell Arts In Education and Manchester Community Schools. The program inspires students to give voice to their individual stories through visual art, music, and storytelling.
This special concert experience will feature Chilean musicians Kike Galdames and Claudio Gonzalez as they perform original compositions set to the works of Gabriela Mistral, a trailblazing Chilean poet and educator who was the first Latin American woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. Prior to the complimentary concert, CommUNITY Arts English Language Learners and advanced Spanish students will participate in a master class with the musicians, focusing on the integration of music and poetry while encouraging students to develop their own poetic expressions.
In a two-part workshop, visual artist Hannah Burnworth will lead students and community members in painting a canvas inspired by Chilean artist Monroe. The free art class will take place on September 10 and September 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Manchester High School. The artwork created will be displayed during the evening of the concert.
