IN- (October 29, 2024) Red Flag Warning in effect for portions of northern Indiana from 1-8 PM EDT today. Record warm temperatures, low relative humidity, strong gusty winds, and very dry topsoil will result in an increased risk for field fires. Avoid outdoor burning. Abide by county burn bans-fires could spark very easily. Any uncontrolled fire will likely spread rapidly.
Fire Safety Tips:
Avoid using equipment that may emit sparks.
Properly dispose of cigarettes.
Avoid outdoor burning, including of trash, debris, or vegetation.
Avoid activities that involve open flames or sparks including candles in pumpkins.
Abide by burn bans in your county/city.
Have a water source nearby to extinguish any fires.
Have a plan if you need to evacuate.
