Richard Claude “Dick” Marion, 89, of Wabash, Indiana, formerly of Delphi, Indiana, died at 7:49 pm, Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. He was born on September 20, 1935, in Lafayette, Indiana, to William Wesley and Marjorie (Monbeck) Marion.
Dick was a 1954 graduate of Monon High School and served in the National Guard. He married Frances Jean Phegley in Rensselaer, Indiana on August 21, 1955; she died May 26, 2017. He was a retired truck driver and also worked at a tool and die shop in Monticello, Indiana. Dick attended College Corner Brethren Church in Wabash County. He enjoyed reading, golfing, and bowling. He coached Little league baseball in Delphi, Indiana where he lived for 46 years, before moving to Wabash in 2021.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Robert “Chuck” (Sandy) Marion of Huntington, Indiana, and Simeon Garrett “Garry” (LaVerne) Marion of Wabash; four grandchildren, Caleb Marion of Seattle, Washington, Rebecca Wright of Wabash, Amy (Brian) Kirschbaum of Lebanon, Indiana, and Shaun (Casey) Marion of Batesville, Indiana; six great-grandchildren, Alexis (Victor) Fink of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Treyton (Emma) Wright and Marlie Wright, both of Wabash, Declan Kirschbaum and Calvin Kirschbaum, both of Lebanon, and Caleb Marion of Batesville; and his brother, Robert (Leah) Marion of Kokomo, Indiana. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his son, William Claude “Bill” Marion.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Roscka, Roth, and Clapper Funeral Home, 6368 E. US 24, Monticello, Indiana, with Don Sheehan officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Memorial Gardens, Delphi. Friends may call 5-7 pm Wednesday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, and 10-11:00 am Thursday at Roscka, Roth, and Clapper Funeral Home in Monticello.
