Richard Wayne Ennis

Richard Wayne Ennis, 83, of Marion, passed away at 12:16 pm on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Martinsville, Indiana, on Wednesday, February 12, 1941, to Howard and Mary (Archer) Ennis. On September 14,1963, he married Mary Ann Clodfelder, who survives.

Richard graduated from Martinsville High School in 1959. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge (M-14), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Service Bars, and Safe Drivers Badge w/Bar. Following his military service, Richard worked as a Machine Repair Journeyman for 35 years with General Motors, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Maple Run Friends Church. Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and American Legion. He enjoyed collecting antique cars, trucks, and tractors. Richard had been a member and past officer of the Tri State Gas Engine and Tractor Association. More than anything, Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially having dinners on holidays.

In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ann, Richard is survived by his daughters, Rachann Ennis (Timothy) Mayer of Mount Airy, MD and Roxann (Jon) Clark of Swayzee; granddaughters, Anne (Luke) Thompson and Rhiannon Mayer; grandsons, Sean Clark and Killian Clark; brother, David (late Helen) Ennis; brother-in-law, Herschel Waltz; plus, several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard M. and Mary Edith Ennis; brother, Danny (Margaret) Ennis; and sister, Jane Waltz.

The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46952.

A funeral service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the funeral home with John Key officiating. A brief viewing and burial with military honors will follow at Nebo Memorial Park, 3295 Indiana-252, Martinsville, IN 46151.
