Robert C. Martin, 96, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:11 am, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. He was born on November 4, 1928, in Wabash, to George L. and Rosa (Brosnan) Martin.
Bob was a 1946 graduate of Wabash High School, and received his BS in Agriculture from Purdue University in 1951, where he was a founding member of the Purdue Chapter of FarmHouse fraternity. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Bob married his beloved Mary Ella “Ellie” Teusch at the St. Bernard Catholic Church on March 26, 1951. He retired from the US Department of Agriculture Soil Conversation Service in 1985 after being a good steward of Indiana’s natural resources for nearly 30 years. In retirement, he also worked at the Southeast Purdue Agricultural Center. Bob was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Wabash American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cattle shows, horse sales, and just generally being outdoors, but most of all he loved his wife of 73 years and his family. He was Ever Grateful, Ever True.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie Martin of Wabash; four sons, Robert Andrew “Andy” (DeAnn) Martin of Georgetown, Indiana, Mike (Karen) Martin of Saint Charles, Missouri, Matt (Jena) Martin of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and Tim (Mari) Martin of Fort Wayne, Indiana; six grandchildren, Kathryn (Tony Patullo) Martin of St. Peters, Missouri, Zoe (Chris Morris) Martin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dori (Markelle) Moore of St. Peters, Missouri, Amelia (Zach Venturella) Martin of Weldon Spring, Missouri, Ruby Martin and Lia Martin, both of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kelsey Lynn Martin; two brothers, and five sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 188 W. Sinclair, Wabash, with Father Jay Horning officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-6 pm Monday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with a Rosary service at 6:00 pm.

Dear MaryElla will miss Bob very much as he was one swell fellow and will be missed. Nate always enjoyed talking With him. Hope you are doing ok. I will keep you in my prayers. Take care of yourself. Hard to believe that Dick has been gone 12 , nearly 13 years now. Love Bonnie
