Robert E. Sherman, Sr., 92, of Marion, passed away at 5:40 pm on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Wyndmoor of Marion. He was born in Sweetser, Indiana, on Saturday, October 1, 1932, to Orville L. Sherman, Sr., and Ruth (Henderson) Sherman. He was married to Jacquelyn S. Sherman, who preceded him in death.
Robert worked at Marion Steel, where he was a Tow Motor Driver for 12 years. He loved watching westerns and, as a younger man, took great joy in working on old cars and fixing lawn mowers.
Survivors include his sons, Robert E. Sherman, Jr., of LaFontaine and Robert Fleming of FL; daughters, Debbie Brewer of Van Buren and Stacy Bartel; brother, Orville Lee (late Joan) Sherman of Marion; nephew, Robert “Bob” A. (Barb) Sherman of Marion; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his loving wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Orville L. Sherman, Sr.; mother, Ruth May Sherman; sisters, Agnes Irene Mayo, Ruth Ann Detamore-Reynolds, Janet Blackburn, Virginia Sherman, Betty Sherman, and Mary Sherman; and brothers, David (Loretta) Sherman and Richard Sherman.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Robert’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Matthews Cemetery.
