Robert L. Arnold, 89, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Marion Health. He was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky, on Sunday, October 20, 1935, to Allen Arnold and Effie Harrington. On June 11, 1955, he married Nancy D. Swathwood, and this year they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Robert attended grade school in Marion before moving to Kentucky with his family, where he attended high school. He worked at General Tire for many years, followed by positions at Dana, Bathe Steel in Hartford City, the Town of Upland, and at Dynamite Building Maintenance. He was a handyman who loved antiques and refinishing furniture. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting, as well as rabbit and squirrel hunting. Living on 13 acres, Robert cherished being outdoors, planting trees, gardening, and taking care of his yard.
In January of this year, Robert gave his heart to the Lord under the guidance of Pastor Steve Mitchell at Union Chapel Baptist. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, who deeply loved his family and who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy D. Arnold; daughters, Vanessa (Terry) Hennessy and Paula Miller; grandsons, Ryan (Addie) Lloyd and Jeremy Waggy; one great-grandson; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Ashley Lloyd; brothers, Dallas Arnold and Gale Arnold; and sister, Nancy Moore.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Robert’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Steve Mitchell officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
