Robert W. DeLong, 73, of Marion, passed away at 2:18 pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Marion Health in Marion. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, April 15, 1951, to Robert and Maryann (Wright) DeLong. He married Susan Lee Davis.
Robert graduated from Mississinewa High School and worked as an electrician with General Cable. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and a member of the Marion Coin Club. Robert was the number one Chicago Bears fan. He loved coin collecting, camping, and fishing. He was a hard worker and loved his dogs.
Survivors include his sons, Jason (Yvonne) DeLong of Riverside, CA, and Bradley (Chloe) DeLong of Marion; grandsons, Nathan (Taylor) DeLong of Marion and Silas DeLong of Jonesboro; granddaughters, Kenzi DeLong of Bloomington, Brianna DeLong of Marion, and Madison DeLong of Marion; great-granddaughters, Karter DeLong, Karsyn DeLong, and Kyndal DeLong; great-grandsons, Parker DeLong and Porter DeLong; and sister-in-law, Peggy Wiggin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. DeLong; mother, Maryann DeLong; wife, Susan Lee DeLong; and sister, Sandra Jo Strickland.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
A funeral to celebrate Robert’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the funeral home. Pastor Mick Simpkins will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
